FAQ

Q. Your programs sound amazing, and I’d love to get my teen involved. Where do I start?

A. We’d love to hear from you! Each Terra segment has its own team of knowledgeable experts at the ready–we are happy to go over program details, help you find the right program fit for your family and answer your travel-related questions. Reach out directly or schedule a call for a time that’s most convenient for you. Please note that office hours may shift seasonally.

Q. Is Terra a nonprofit?

A. No, Terra Education is not a nonprofit organization. However, we are a Certified B-Corp, which means that we have met stringent guidelines to ensure that we are using the power of business for good. Many of Terra’s partners, both abroad and domestically, are non-profit organizations that we are proud to help support through our partnership and through the Global Leadership Adventures International Foundation (GLAIF), which is a 501C3 nonprofit.

Q. I’ve heard of GLA / TTN / SSB / DC / BS, but what is Terra Education?

A. Terra Education is the parent company of Global Leadership Adventures, Teen Travel Network, Summer Springboard, Discover Corps and Beyond Sports. Global Leadership Adventures was founded in 2004; from there, our other segments were born with the shared aim to inspire people to realize their potential to transform the world through high quality educational programming.

Q. What’s the deadline to apply for a Terra program?

A. Regardless of the program or trip, we strongly encourage you to apply as soon as you know you are interested! Space is limited in all of our sessions, and can fill as early as January for some summer dates and locations. Travel programs can also require some time for preparation (passport and/or visa process, special vaccinations, etc.).

Q. Can my teen do a full summer of activities with Terra?

A. Absolutely! Many students in the past have linked multiple Terra programs to create the ultimate summer experience. For example, spend two weeks at Yale with Summer Springboard immersed in Pre-Med instruction, then jet over to Peru for three weeks of hands-on community service in the medical and public health sector with Global Leadership Adventures. Round out the summer with a 14-day whirlwind trip through Europe with Teen Travel Network or ten days in South Africa with the whole family with Discover Corps.

Q. Do you offer scholarships or discounts?

A. Please reach out to your Terra company of interest to learn more about scholarship or discount opportunities, as availability varies. GLA awards thousands of dollars in financial aid each year; both GLA and SSB award full program scholarships to a small handful of applicants through Terra’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) scholarship. Certain divisions may offer sibling or group discounts or scholarships to alumni as well.
